Border and Transportation Security

Our national security requires safeguarding of our borders by air, land, and sea while allowing for lawful trade and travel. HAZMED is a national small business leader in complex border and transportation security initiatives and projects. Since 1998, our firm has worked with the U.S. Border Patrol and its predecessor Immigration and Naturalization Services (INS) in the design, development, testing, integration, and full life cycle support for its command and control system that dispatches federal agents protecting our borders safely and promptly.

Transportation security requires surveillance of our nation’s, air, road, surface rail and subway systems. HAZMED works with the federal government to keep our nation’s transportation systems safe and secure. Our technical professionals helped to enhance our nation’s Global Enrollment System which pre-screens low-risk, trusted travelers to expedite their security screening process.

Computer Aided Detection
U.S. Department of Homeland Security
The Intelligent Computer Assisted Detection (ICAD) system assists the United States Border Patrol in detecting illegal crossings into the United States. HAZMED designed, developed, tested and documented software for the system lifecycle operations and maintenance phase and supported ICAD-related hardware, software, and networks. Our project team has received numerous letters of commendation and recognition from the U.S. Border Patrol.

Border Patrol Agent Training
U.S. Department of Homeland Security
A HAZMED professional team conducted web-based and platform training for more than 3,000 U.S. Border Patrol sector agents. HAZMED ICAD customer service representatives worked with sector contacts to develop a training agenda and roster. Our firm designed and published for border agents a newsletter of information and tips.

Inspection Systems Support
U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service [predecessor Agency to the Department of Homeland Security]
The INS Global Enrollment System as part of the STARS and STARS Light Inspection System collected and stored applicant biographic and biometric data for five automated inspection systems. This project enhanced border security and safety led to the development of a national system for expedited processing time for frequent, low-risk travelers and set performance standards for border travel automation systems.
