Underground Storage Tank Removal
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
Under the USACE Storage Tank Removal and Installation Program, HAZMED environmental engineers developed project plans for installing six, upgrading 20, and removing 70 underground storage tanks and two oil/water separators while developing project scopes for upgrading and installing surface storage tanks to supply fuel to emergency generators.

Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP)
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
HAZMED environmental engineers at the three St. Louis FUSRAP sites reviewed plans and specifications for new construction projects for environmental compliance; inspected and evaluated site restoration activities for special environmental concerns; prepared and reviewed construction project documentation and reports submitted to regulatory agencies; maintained project communications between USACE, remediation contractors, and site owners; and assisted in certifying hazardous and radioactive waste manifests for shipments to off-site disposal facilities.

Asbestos and Lead Paint Removal
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
HAZMED reviewed asbestos and lead-based paint abatement plans for all USACE construction projects at Ft. Campbell and supervised the removal of asbestos and lead-based paint from old buildings demolished for the construction of new barracks and from asbestos cement pipe and asbestos-containing insulation from the energy plant.

Hazardous Waste Remediation
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
HAZMED project engineers remediated the former fire training area at Campbell Army Airfield. They reviewed work plans, data, and reports submitted by the contractor for whether removal and disposal of the soil contaminated with hazardous constituents were accorded with the approved remedial action work plan. They inspected the work daily and made project status reports to Army and state environmental personnel.
